A choice

I forgot to mention that with the new practice I chose for prenatal care I get my choice of an OB or a midwife and I am thrilled. With Griffin I started out with a midwife and later when we moved had to switch to an OB.What a difference! To the OB I was a number and they were too busy to answer questions and to be honest didn't seem very caring at all.So I am thrilled to be able to choose a midwife. My only worry is that I have had a C section in the past and do not want to play around if it is too dangerous for me to try a VBAC.But anyways I wanted to mention this! They used to actually have a birthing center there at the office but now do all deliveries at get this "Women's Hsopital"-that is the name of the hospital as it is geared towards woman only.Cool huh

There are midwives who work in doctors offices. Maybe that is something you can look into.

I gave birth in an OR just because there was a possibility of a c-section. I have to say that my doctor was great. He was very caring. Many doctors have been rated now and you can look up their stats and reviews about them on the internet.

You are lucky!! I think midwives are illegal here in our state. My dream birth is a water birth in a hospital. I don't think I'll ever get a chance to do it....I would love to have a different birthing experience.

Kitty, that's great. I wonder how your Dr's office and/or hospital feels about Vbacs. I started out with a midwife and had her until the month I had Kaia. I hadn't even met the partners when I had kaia. I had 2 partners perform the C and 2 do the hematoma surgery. They were awesome thankfully but, won't do a vbac and neither will the hospitals they deliver at. :(
